loving today

Zola woke up from her nap tired and hungry.

She is such a sweet little thing that I had to get my camera and capture some of this grumpiness.

I love her little sweaty curls when she wakes up...
I love her arm rolls and the hint of red in her hair...
I love that even when she is grumpy she can't help but smile...
I love her little grunts for more...
I love the way she signs more... I love her fat wrists and precious fingers...
 I love this...
I love her perfect little mouth... I love her blank stare of satisfaction...
I love her blue eyes...  I love it when she is rootin' tootin'...
I love her.

long photo dump

Zola has discovered the laundry shoot door. Dennis loved that when he was little. She hasn't quite figured out how to put stuff down it yet. Thank goodness.

Waiting for his ride to school...

 I love my crazy kids...

...and luckily, they love each other too.

Zola's kisses can be quite wet. I don't know if she learned that from the dogs or what! haha
Zola follows her brother around everywhere and wants to play with everything that he is playing with.
Zola got this cute hat and boots from Nonnie for Christmas. Ryan's cousin crocheted them. I was lucky to get these pictures of it. She ripped them off almost as fast as I could get them on her.

Poor girl LOVES to climb onto Dennis' bed. She gets so excited to be up there... bouncing around and laughing. The only tough part is falling off. Here is a picture right after taking all of her weight on her nose.
...that is why she has a scab on her nose in many of these pictures.

Dennis loves to exercise. He always joins in when he can.

Miss Zola got stuck under the chair.... big booty alert.
Dennis was super excited to play a trick on daddy. Which hand is it in?
 ...guess again!
Eating can be a little messy.
Here is a picture of a bird (in pink) and a roller coaster (in blue) with people inside. Super cute. Dennis is getting better and better at drawing.
Once again, these two are loving each other... and unprompted!

We are learning some baby signs. It makes communicating so much better. Here is her first time actually using it!

Zola wanted to sit up on the couch by her brother so badly. She kept going up on her tip toes saying, "uh, uh". Finally, I came over and helped her up. She leaned back on Dennis and wanted to cuddle. So cute.

Zola went through a really rough stage where she wouldn't sleep without me. Probably a combination of being sick for a long time and on vacation. she would nurse to sleep at night and wake up immediately when put down. Then she would wake up every 2-3 hours wanting to nurse. I was dying. Then she would fall asleep nursing on my bed for naps but when i tried to transfer her to the pack n play she would wake up. The only way to get her to take a nap was if we were driving somewhere. We were all getting very tired. I tried letting her cry it out comforting her every 20 min in the night but she cried for 2 hours. and it didn't change any bad habit. Then one night i had a spiritual experience after praying for help. I had the impression to just listen to her...instead of telling her what to do. So I rocked her and let her sit right up...she burped. Then she layed down on my chest and did it again and again until she just stayed laying down. Then to get her to sleep through the night...when she woke up i moved Dennis to my bed and layed in Dennis' bed with my hand in her lap while she cried. She finally went to sleep and has been sleeping through the night ever since. She us such a sensitive girl that i think just comforting her and leaving was augmenting the problem. She loves to play in water. She loves the toilet water and the dog bowl water.

Dennis says some of the greatest things. The other day he was telling us about this song that we were going to sing when the dinosaurs come back. With some probing he told us the dinosaurs are coming back to eat us all up. But it's ok because we will then turn into angels.

In the night he well call me into his room to tell me something. Last night he told me that tomorrow is going to be a really busy day because dad is going to screw something on his bed so that zola doesn't fall off. We have been selling stuff on craigslist and Dennis loves to help guide us out. He waves his hand and says, "you got it." Over and over. He is the best cheerleader. He has quite the imagination these days. He is always running around talking to imaginary people and fighting them.

His prayers have been really sweet. One night while i was rocking zola to sleep, he said a prayer just for himself. He said, "dear heavenly father, please help me not to have bad dreams, just good ones." And last night in our family prayer- "please make sure no bad guys get us in our house."

he started gymnastics and loves it! His favorite part was jumping off the spring board up onto the high tower.

Big eater

Zola graduated from the swing to the table! Yes, we all eat at the little table. Yes, zola has eaten from her swing. Aah, the joy of living in a small house.

Here's to hoping for a bigger one next! Fingers crossed. :)

Btw, before Christmas, zola was entertained by food but didn't really eat. Now, she eats like crazy. Someone pushed the on button in her stomach because this girl has an appetite and will let you know!

too cute

These pictures were too cute not to share even if they are from a while ago.

santa came

Christmas morning Dennis and Zola slept in until 9:00 (this was a first) and I woke up to them playing together with Zola's new teddy bear. Probably one of the cutest things I have seen.
 Merry Christmas to ME!!!
Dennis was sure excited to see that Santa ate a couple of cookies!
 Christmas Jammies from Nonnie!
 Zola loved the bows!

Dennis was sure cute. He said, "Just what I always wanted!" with every gift that he opened.

 This girl was so happy!
Good thing we put the tree up on a table... Zola was really interested.
We are so blessed. I love our kids.
