stl today

Check THIS out! I'm famous!

substantial

While in Utah, we went skiing at Snow Basin. I was extremely impressed with: the bathrooms, the view, the gondolas, and the pastrami burger with sauerkraut. hmmm.

It was beautiful and I had fun thanks to an unknown old man. Ryan could barely clip my boots on when I got out of the car. They were so tight. I hobbled to the chalet trying to keep up with everyone... by the time I got inside my toes were tingling. This is going to be a long day if my boots are too tight. I sit down on the couch and an older experienced skier is sitting next to me. As I start to unbuckle my boots he asked if my toes were cold. I told him that I just got there but my toes were tingling and numb already because my boots were too tight. He informed me that the only thing that should be in your boot is your socks. I had my socks, my 2 pairs of long underwear and my spandex pants all stuffed in those boots. As I proceeded to remove the layers, he told me that was a good idea because I have substantial legs!

Substantial- that's a good way to put it

He clarified and said that he could tell that I had played sports.

I always knew that I had "substantial legs." I used to say that I was sturdy or short & stocky. Now, I am substantial.

After that encounter, my toes had a happy day... I think the best they have EVER felt in ski boots.

Thank you anonymous old man!

early christmas

Dennis' love of oranges is still strong.
We did our Christmas early this year because we are going out to Utah. Dennis was so proud of his big present from grandma and grandpa.
Dennis was so excited for his food and kitchen.

Thanks grandma and grandpa- He loves it!

winter ventilation

Christmas time is here. Ryan and Dennis put up the Christmas lights. Our beautiful crooked tree that we got for $15.
We woke up to snow!!!!! Yeah, I was wishing that we were in MN yesterday so that we could have been snowed in with their 2 feet of snow. It sounded like so much fun. I got my wish.
Dennis all bundled up to shovel the sidewalk... we might need to get him some of his own gloves.
Nice and rosy after playing in the snow.
on to the venting...

Yesterday... Dennis and I went shopping at Goodwill looking for a bundt pan... I found some decorative ducks and Dennis found a couple of forks and a butter knife. We carried our treasures with us while we searched for our pan. A store worker told me to watch him... obviously concerned that my totally careful and capable child was carrying a butter knife and a fork... heaven forbid. I told him that Dennis was fine. We kept shopping but didn't find our pan so I told Dennis that since we didn't find what we came for that we should both put our treasures back. I went down my isle to put back my duck and Dennis went down his isle to put back his forks and knife when the same worker came up to me all frazzled and told me that a child shouldn't be carrying a fork and a knife. UGH! I know what my child is capable of! He has been unloading the dishwasher for a year now!- YES with forks and butter knives! Even if he tripped and fell, he would not get hurt! If you fell with a butter knife in your hand would you get hurt? He is good at things like this. After Dennis came back to me, I said to him, "It's ok Dennis, he doesn't know what a good kid you are." While I had steam blowing out my ears! We left immediately. I think I will shop at a different Goodwill from now on.

Our neighbor walks her little dog every morning and poops right out in front of our house, right by our car. AND SHE DOES NOT PICK IT UP! I have seen her, Ryan has seen her, Nancy has seen her, Mary has seen her.... and when I came home from Goodwill it was raining and that poop was nice and soft. With steam already blowing out my ears I picked it up and put it on our neighbors porch. YES, I DID. (Then, a couple of hours later I threw it away.) coward? nice?

Then I found out last night that Ryan was going to be working today also. Great. I was hoping to have some time in the morning to prepare my Relief Society (church) lesson. (My fault for leaving it to the last minute) Then we woke up to snow! that was fun and Dennis played for a half an hour or so and luckily that was enough time for me to prepare (blessing). We got up and shoveled the sidewalk and said neighbor's sidewalk, too. Then we had to get ready for church. yikes that was a nightmare. Dennis would NOT put on his pants or socks or shoes. So, after 15 minutes of trying anything I could, I decided that if he wanted to go to church in his diaper in the snow... that was fine with me. He would not die. I picked up the clothes put them in the church bag and headed out the door. After stepping outside in the snow without pants socks or shoes, he decided that pants was a good idea after all. I got him dressed in a coat and we went out to the car. Dennis didn't walk on the sidewalk like I told him to but went down our hill, slipped and slid down on his bum. So much for dry pants and socks and shoes. I put D in the car and ran back inside to grab dry pants, shoes and socks. Finally, on our way to church... and on time! We get there and the parking lot is empty. It was canceled. 2 inches of snow guys!!!! We have church in the afternoon... its not that big of a deal! I would much rather have had the sacrament and to feel the spirit and to teach my lesson to help me get these bad feelings out of my head!!! Instead, I have more.

Is the world out to get me?

gel

Dennis found some lotion in the bathroom and thought he would gel up his hair. We immediately took a bath and the shampoo never suds up because of all the lotion. So much for tear free shampoo. This stuff hurt-not that Dennis ever cried but he kept wiping his eyes.
