random tidbits

When Nonnie was here, she made play dough with Dennis. He loved it. He made these cups all on his own without being prompted while Nonnie was folding laundry (thank you) and I was at work. What a creative guy. We have renewed our love of the playground with the nice weather last week.
Dennis even got to try out his new bike. We rode it to Eloise's house and back. He is really good at doing the peddle motion but doesn't have the strength to make it go himself. Especially because he can't quite reach the peddles when they are at the bottom. He has to shift his weight from side to side. He has figured out the break and thinks it is funny to break every 3 feet.

playing update

Dennis is playing more make believe lately. I love to hear the things that he says. Here are a couple of cute videos of him playing.
This is Dennis' self portrait pic.

brand new shoes

We had beautiful weather this past week. High of 75 deg. I could not complain. One day I felt so good that I decided to break out my Christmas present from Ryan: brand new running shoes. I ran to Dennis' daycare to pick him up, then we ran to the park together to play on the playground, then we ran home. It felt so good to run again. I was sore the next day but it was only my muscles, not my knee! Hopefully, P90X will pay off in the running department. :) It's getting cold again today but it sure was nice to have a day to remember that winter will not last forever and spring is right around the corner.

nonnie

On our way to the airport at 6am. Dennis was so excited when he saw a plane take off as we were driving away from the airport. He said, "Nonnie's plane!" And all the way home he was asking where Nonnie was and answering himself saying that Nonnie went to Utah. Nonnie went to Papa's house. Nonnie went to Kristen's house. But then when we drove up to our house he had a fit saying that he wanted to go in a plane. :( We miss you Nonnie.

Thanks Nonnie for coming to visit!

talent is over rated

That is the title of one of Ryan's books that intrigued me. I think its plot said something to the sort that you could be really good at anything you put your time into. And that if I had as much training as Andre Agasse I could play Tennis just as well. There might be a little truth in that fact, however, I think there is something to be said about talent that you are born with.

I mean take a look at these drawings! I don't actually know what a 2.5 year old is supposed to draw like but I am pretty impressed with Dennis' skills.

cookies

Nonnie came to visit this week and Dennis is so excited! He loves Nonnie. Even when she is here he listens to the recorded books that she made for him. "two Nonnie's" as he would say.

For family night we decorated some Valentine's Day cookies that he made with Nonnie. He decorated some especially for his friend Eloise.

Of course we had to try some ourselves...

It was a fun night!

my baby

I have a bad habit of calling Dennis my baby. I say, "I love you baby", "good night baby", "you're my baby" all too often. Every time I say one of these phrases or any of the like Dennis quickly responds with, "NO BABY. Me Dennis." I am not an easy one to train.

Recently my baby has been growing up. We switched from our crib to a big boy bed (and he still takes naps... at least when anyone but mommy tries to put him down). I have been trying to convince Dennis that he is still a baby until ALL baby items are put away... we really only have one of those things left.... diapers. He isn't liking that idea as much as me.

Pretty soon Dennis will be on his first hockey team, going to school and growing up. All too quick for my baby.
