Kauai day 3

Morning hike along coast to the caves.

 I had a blast looking for crabs, snails and fish in the tide pools. along the coast.

 This is how Andrew took his naps most days.

 This was absolutely gorgeous! and I saw some sea turtles just out beyond the rocks.

 Here is the huge cave that they hid their women and children when they would have invasions back in the day.

 This little town of old kaloa was my favorite. Andrew and I explored the art house and dreamed of buying real art some day. We also got ice cream and looked in awe at all of the really cool trees.

 Then we at at keoki's. Well, we took it to the beach and ate it there while watching the sun set.

 the hula pie was to die for! I could have eaten the entire thing myself.... but Ryan didn't think he could split it again.

 we are so romantic... we just explored the tide pools while the sun was setting.

Kauai Day 2

 It was super nice to just enjoy the hammock that morning with my boy. He needed a nap but wouldn't give in.

 Our hotel was seriously the most beautiful place.

Then we went snorkeling at the Beach House. We were lucky enough to see the endangered munk seal sleeping on our beach where we were snorkeling. 

The snorkeling was the best. we saw several different eels, sea cucumbers, more fish than I could keep track of and I got to touch an octopus. It was so lovely. 

 Then Andrew and I went swimming in the hotel salt water pool. It was amazing with sand and islands that you could swim around. He drank quite a bit of salt water that day.

Then we went to see spouting horn. The water would shoot up through a hole in the rock and moan. 

 And we went to a luau. It was fun to be with Ryan's coworkers but the luau wasn't the greatest. Nothing compares to the PCC on Oahu.

Kauai Day 1

Sunrise from our hotel room lanai (porch). Yes, we got a great view!!! They upgraded our room to an ocean view. I didn't mind that at all.

We took a walk around the grounds of the Grand Hyatt. Best Hotel on the Island! And we got to stay there. It was amazingly beautiful. I've never stayed at such a nice hotel. Our toilet had an electronic bidet that had a heated seat and automatic fan that went on as soon as you sat down to take away any smell. You could program your bidet session just the way you wanted it. So that it would be the same every time. I should have tried it out... but I was too scared. If you want to know how it feels ask Ryan.

 The Lobby was HUGE!!!! with the biggest rug I have ever seen inside.

 When the sea is calm people jump off the end of that cliff.

 Obviously it wasn't calm. Instead we saw locals surfing and boogie boarding on those awesome wave tunnels.

After our self guided tour of the grounds we thought it was getting kind of late only to find out it was 7:30am. LOL I guess we were a little off schedule.

We went to breakfast at the Kalaheo Cafe. It was so delicious. Ryan had an egg burrito and I had a veggie egg sandwich. Andrew was flirting with everyone. Yep, He is adorable. 

 Then we ran into Safia and Sarah and they convinced Ryan to make some time for some site seeing that day. So, we went up the Waimea Canyon. We saw these cool waterfalls on our way up.

 And this amazing view! Check out those waterfalls! No wonder it is called the grand canyon of the pacific! It was massive.

 At the end of the canyon dr. you get to see the beautiful Na Pali coastline. These ridges are amazingly steep and green and awesome! You can't even tell where the ocean ends and the sky begins.

 Then we took a hike called the Pihea trail. It was not easy terrain especially while carrying a baby but it was soooo worth it! Ryan even thought so. This was one of the many highlights of our trip.

 We had to climb over trees,

 go up steep inclines...

 But the view was amazing!!!

 Believe it or not... there are chickens EVERYWHERE!!!

We ended the day by going to the opening reception of the conference. We ate some awesome sliders with caramelized onions, hummus & veggies, and a cheese platter. So yummy. Thanks for the free food!
